Blackjack on TV

Poker fascination has been improved by TV’s reality shows, so Blackjack being televised and broadcast shouldn’t surprise anyone.

World Series of Blackjack (on GSN) and Ultimate Blackjack Tour (on CNBS) are the living proof that televised cards betting is profitable.

Even companies that manufacture cameras and TV’s studio equipment have seen the benefits of televised gambling and have come up with some innovations such as Rail Cams, which helped to make card games a real spectator sport.

In Blackjack, players compete against the dealer, so camaraderie is palpable. The competitive factor is questionable, except under tournament conditions. These factors can mislead spectators to think that watching blackjack on TV could be boring.

However, TV producers have taken some liberties to make this game more appealing to viewers. Ultimate Blackjack Tour has forced eliminations, secret bets and a mini rail cam that shows the dealer’s hand.

One of the smartest moves was organizing games in which famous poker players play against professional blackjack players.

World Series of Blackjack recently completed its third season, and a fourth one is being made.
